The weather in Austin has been cold and rainy, so what better time than now to hold the annual Enola Labs Chili Cook-Off? On Wednesday, we warmed up the office, had our best cooks come up with their own chili recipes, and left the winner of the coveted Cook-Off trophy up to the taste buds of our staff. After a lot of laughs, tears, and squabbles over who got the last of the Fritos, only one recipe came out on top: web developer Jonathan King’s ‘Texas Steak Chili.’ It was spicy, savory, filled with chunks of perfectly cooked steak and, in the end, it was number one.
Jonathan was not unmatched, however, and his steak chili won by only a small margin to our lead marketer Sean Killian’s ‘Uncle Sean’s Smokey Turkey Mango Chili,’ which was part sweet, part spicy, and all around delicious. Not to be forgotten, President Marcus Turner’s ‘Roadkill Chili’ came in a close third, clearing out the sinuses of the staff with its intense spice.
All in all, Jonathan walked away with the trophy and the rest of us went back to work with full stomachs and dreams of holding the title of Enola Labs Cook-Off Chili Champ next year.
